My trans has a decent leak. I changed the fluid a few weeks ago and it would leave pretty decent marks for quite a while.

I MAY have over filled it... I put in what I thought was the prescribed amount but when I removed the plug to let the extra drip out, lots came out! I was afraid I'd maybe broken the inner tube and just put the plug in and called it good.

The pan gasket was new when I changed the fluid. But I think the side cover gasket is leaking.

Are there any "tricks" to changing that side cover gasket? I mostly want to make sure nothing will "sproooinnnng" out when I remove the cover.

Are there any other gaskets that might be leaking and are easy to replace with the trans in-situ? Thought about the electrical plug, but I've read that connection can get fragile and best not to mess with it.

I figured I'd order enough fluid to drop the pan again and verify that the tube is in place while I do all this. And since I know you never get all the old fluid out in a change, I can consider this a full fluid change now that its been driven a few hundred miles and the leftover old is all mixed in.
