As a fresh face on here, only just found this thread. What a great story. Loved reading it.
When I was in Tasmania last Christmas I saw a "truck" and thought what a great (next) project that might be !! Now you have me thinking........
My sister lives in Anacortes and I hope to be there in my (currently undergoing reno) Fastback in about Ausgust 2022. Hopefully I can get around your way when I am there to see your truck in person !!
Cheers,
Giles |

Your Ghia project is coming along nicely too. Just went over to the Ghia forum and checked it out. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Well, the 40hp motor is being put together for the Ghia so I had time to do an easy job that was put off for several months - gotta have a license plate light for the custom rear end of the Type 3 Truck. Found a decent solution frame light - not too big or flashy and no third brake-light like many of them have. Had to be small enough to fit under the '49 Chevy chrome frame surround...
Brown wire split off the running light socket:
Sudden rainstorm later Voila! Legal again
Dry it off for one more shot - not very dark outside for this shot - I think it will work just fine at night:
EXPIRED TAG !!! Governor says don't worry about and has granted grace period for renewals- I will update it via mail this week anyway. _________________ 1963 Karmann Ghia |

There's a saveable late model Type 3 truck in Coburg, OR at Don Burkin Auto Repair, that had an engine fire.

I remember that blue late model truck conversion from a few years ago AND the cool chopped yellow bug! Think they are both still there in May of 2020? _________________ 1963 Karmann Ghia |

I will stop and see what's there now. He had a couple of stripped double cabs & a complete automatic transmission squareback. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

I stopped & talked to Don Burkin but he wouldn't give me any prices. He has a lot of Bugs & Bay windows but they all need work. You can email him at [email protected]

Not an ad (yet) just a musing here...
A few years ago, I went so far as listing the T-3 Truck for sale but now it might really be time. I just don't have room for it here. The hesitation is whether I should sell it OR the '63 Ghia that spent most of my time and money on in 2020. The Ghia was my pandemic project - it's not quite done - but close enough at this point.
Very difficult decision - had the Type 3 since 2009 - pretty limited market for such an odd custom _________________ 1963 Karmann Ghia |

Glad it went to a loving home. If you dont mind DC would you object to the new owner posting about it in this thread as a continuation?
I just hope it doesnt vanish from the scene , thats all _________________ Schnell, SCHNELL!

I don’t believe I’ve posted in the Type 3 forum, never had one but I’ve watched this truck over the years and read through this entire thread. Really great work on it overall- your Ghia as well. Hope it went to a good home. _________________ 1961 Vw Bug @61beetle IG |
