I took the bug up to the ski hill that I work at to use some of the shop tools last night. Today is the last day of skiing for this season. This is a Prinoth Bison X in the background - our main cat for the terrain parks.

Yep! Very Happy Just not a fan of the ratty look and the crap rattle can paint was driving me nuts. Car had like 6 different shades of yellow depending how long any one section of it was exposed to sunlight. Laughing

Yesterday I attended the Conn. VW Association's annual Spring Dust Off meetup in Pomfret Connecticut. It was a beautiful day until late afternoon when dark clouds appeared. We stayed as long as possible and timed it right. The first raindrops hit us with the top down as we arrived home. The cars were great to look at, here's a few that caught my eye.

This rat Beetle was put together by a young man in his late teens now. His family lived in the Dominican Republic with several Beetles and Buses. They sold them off and came to the US. His Dad got back into VW's and passed a Beetle to him, deteriorated, when he was 15 years old. He went through the engine, body, etc for years. If there's more like this young guy, Beetles will be on the road forever.

I didn't confirm with the owner, but I think this is a Triple Black Epilog.

And Youtube's 5150mxVW took the time to show me his beautiful blue stock '66 Beetle.

The Porsche 914 has really grown on me over the years. The yellow 914 above was very nice with a six cylinder engine. We happened to leave at the same time. I followed him to the highway - then he put the pedal down. Gone.

An der Bodensee! I lived there in 1987. Public transportation was so bad, I bought a car within 3 weeks.

I considered buying a Käfer, but a local talked me out of it -- they weren't fuel efficient enough. IIRC 9 liter pro 100km. So ein Verbrauch war zu deren Zeit schon Scheiße.

That is why 1200 beetles 34 bph were popular in Europe until the end. Many cars today, 35 years later, still have the same fuel consumption. Took my 1983 Selvas Green Mexican for a spring ride today.

I went to a Cars & Coffee in Newport RI this morning. The Newport Bridge was built in the late 60's to allow Super carriers to pass below, when the North Atlantic Fleet was stationed here. The towers reach 400 feet above the water.

The cars gathered at Ft Adams. This massive fort was built in the mid 1800's. It's very complex with arrays of walls, trenches, and listening tunnels.

There was a beautiful 1962 Beetle at the event.

Went on a 50 mile cruise after work and realized that my driving/parking lights were not working. Checked and the #2 fuse was blown. I think the dash headlight switch has gone bad - parking lights work fine, but the fuse blows a couple of seconds after I turn on the lights. Sad Headlights continue to work and so do the blinkers and flashers.
