Funny thing is, its right next to a large main 4 lane highway (left of house just outside of pic) so it sees a lot of traffic - but my GPS took my some crazy backway. Its not in the middle of nowhere as it appears. _________________ Der Schmutzige Süden.

Semi-related note. The last few episodes of the most recent season of The Walking Dead (shot outside of Atlanta) had a 66-67 Double Cab out on this farm property. Never had a hero shot, but there were times where it was pretty clear in the background. Never saw it mentioned on here. |

I live about 25 mi. from the bus. I research the land owner's name and P. O. box, so I plan to send a letter to see if I get any response. I think I'm safe and out of rifle range. My plan is to ask if the bus is for sale, since I'm always looking for parts for my single cab. We'll see what happens.......Greg _________________ '64 single cab Big Bend Bus Bash 2015 '16

Well, it took a few weeks, but I got the post card back that I sent with the letter asking if the chain saw bus is for sale. I included a photo of my truck, thought it might help. Got the card back, not for sale.
Well, it was worth a try. _________________ '64 single cab Big Bend Bus Bash 2015 '16

I wonder if they didn't like the thought of somebody using it for parts, or just trying to get the price way low off the bat by saying it's just for parts.. Owell I guess we will never know.

I kept their P. O. Box no., so perhaps I'll give it another try after waiting several months. I may try the "hey, I would like to save your bus and get it running again" approach.
It would be best to see it on the road with as little restoration as possible I think. I don't really need it for the parts. _________________ '64 single cab Big Bend Bus Bash 2015 '16

So it's been a long time since this bus was talked about. Anyone ever try any more to get it? |

It's been a long time, but I know I sent another letter, perhaps summer of '13. I didn't receive a reply.
The next time I drove out that way, several months later, I could see that the area near the house was cleaned up. I'm thinking the farm sold. I have no idea what happened to the bus. _________________ '64 single cab Big Bend Bus Bash 2015 '16

2021 dated shot looks like it might be missing? My eyes get blurry trying to make out the vehicle (x2?) under the tree.

I believe it's still there.
If you look on Zoom.earth like Culito suggested, you can see a bus shaped object next to that white sedan, and it's casting a shadow. It has to be the bus, as I highly doubt the bus was removed and replaced with something that looks similar?
Either way, that thing is probably toast.
For those interested, the address to look up on zoom.earth is:

Well, another update.
Last week I sent a certified letter asking if the bus was for sale. I said I would like to "preserve" the movie bus, not use parts or resell it. The signed P. O. card was mailed back to me today along with my post card checked "bus is not for sale".
I'll wait another year and try again.
I may ask if I can just drop by and take a photo. This thread is only 10 years old, never give up! _________________ '64 single cab Big Bend Bus Bash 2015 '16

the Aragon? That is in Chicago, close to where I used to live.
my 2 cents: adjust your tactical plan a bit> better to send them a postcard with a picture of a local sightseeing spot over there in the vicinity; that way they know that you are a local guy for sure who is living nearby so the bus would stay in the area (and not someone from Chicago, far far away ).
