I have basically the exact same stand and two arm yolk to hold the engine or transaxle bellhousing. That one needs a clean-up perhaps and a repainting, but I would just guess off the top of my head that it's worth about $300 as-is to someone looking for a real heavy duty dealership quality stand in that current condition. Spruced up and repainted it could be double that? Pretty much any other powertrain stand is inferior to that Mantra tool.

I can't imagine the total weight of all those tools mounted on that pegboard system. If it were me, as soon as I hung the last Matra tool on that wall I'd expect the whole thing to come crashing down on me.
I have a lot of VW dealership tools in my collection and for storage I choose to buy a three-stack of Craftsman tool cabinets with pull-out drawers to store a lot of my stuff, but I've completely overfilled that too. The bigger bulkier tools are on a sturdy shelving unit next to the three-stack in my basement. I think the bulkiest kit I own is a NOS NATO military wooden crate full of the tools needed to field repair and rebuild 25- and 36bhp engines which sits on the floor.
Nice job collecting all of those tools! This is a fun thread!

BINGO! That is the same NATO crate of early tools I have. I got mine about 10 years ago. I heard that a bunch of unused kits were found somewhere in Europe and re-sold to us collectors. I've never used any of my crate tools yet, but I have most of them already in my collection that I do use occasionally. A cool kit full of great tools!
You definitely need to open a VW dealership tool museum!

Hello,
I found a tool from Matra, that's not listed in the special tool section.
Maybe someone knows for what it is? Pulling out the torsion bars? It's Matra 148
Thank you!

Hey, I have a few of those VW press tools as seen in the above photo. They have a unique male "collar" on one end that fits into the press crossbar and I assume snaps or locks in somehow to stay attached to the upper horizontal press bar. Here in the USA I have never seen a press with that attachment system. The hydraulic press seen in the photo appears to have the female receiver for the "collar" as there is a tool attached and hanging from it. I have a 20 ton Harbor Freight press, which has some other type of simple receiver. My German press tools will not attach to my HF press until I acquire or have devised some sort of female receiver/adapter or have a German "receiver" fabricated for my press. Has anyone else figured out how to create an adapter that would accept the German press tools? Are they available somewhere or are there plans out there so that a skilled fabricator or machine shop could make an adapter for those of us needing one? Thanks for any photos of what the German press "collar/receiver" looks like, how a tool is attached, plans or info you can add here. Ultimately a brief video of how German press tools are attached and detached would be very helpful! It would be fun to be able to use these cool press tools someday in working on my VWs...
