I was looking for a volkswagen bus and found a 1974 one for sale with dealer installed AC, I was wondering how good you think it would be or if I should find another way to cool down while driving. |

The installed AC im assuming is from 1974 and not a newer dealer that installed it. Also the AC isn't the reason i'm interested in the bus just wondering if it's a plus or not lol. |

My '79 has it. Mine does not work, at minimum the expansion valve is shot and I'm sure other things. I keep all the pieces on there because i don't want to remove them and it's good conversation if someone notices at shows & campouts. The second part of that is I'm not sure other than on a flat road that I'd want to drain my precious few horsepower to power the a/c. Thinking specifically of some of the hills I drive to get to our bus festival every year.
It would be cool (pun intended) to get it going but there are a lot higher priority mechanical items I'd sink my time & money into first. Also if it did work, I can't imagine it would be very good at cooling it down. Most of them, mine included have lots of air leaks. _________________ '79 Westy FI/AC/Auto
