So I thought I would start a build thread on my 64 sunroof car. I picked it up from a buddy of mine as a project. It is surprisingly rust free, just a little in the pans but the body is solid. It was taken apart to be media blasted and body worked prior to me getting it. Other than some blocking the body is ready to go.

I pulled the body off the pan and started looking at the floors and decided on only patches as the rest is pretty solid. It’s nice to have a lift in your home shop. Sure makes things easy.

Next up since this car will be used from drag racing a street use it will have RLR cutch in it so I figured I’d better check the clutch tube and yep it’s broke loose at the front and back. A little surgery and we’re back in business.

Looks like a decent starting point. Good luck on the build! I'll be following. _________________ .

So I’ll try and add some kind of update daily but for now it’ll be just random stuff as I go.
Spent the day removing the last of the old tar board. Can out pretty easy.
I removed the old fuel like from the tunnel, by far no easy task. I did it to make room for the new fuel line going in. Big motor w dual IDA’s is the plan.
Got a pile of goodies from summit for the brakes a fuel system. Plan is to get everything fitted up and then take out to prep and powder coat or paint the pan. This will help lessen the chance of skinning up the finish or run into snags along the way.
Practicing my engine turning skills for the plates where the fuel line will exit the pan for a little clean finish.

Update 5/27/21
Built a dolly to roll the pan around and to be able to get it outside to blow all the blast grit out of the tunnel.
Last of the fuel/brake lines and fitting showed up.
Decided to do something cool at least. Made and engine turned a bulkhead cover for the fuel line where it comes through the pan.

I dig the dolly that you built to roll the pan around. That's a great Idea. _________________ 65 Bug

New update of sorts.
Picked up some néw tools. I found a turret style flaring tool that comes with both 37 and 45 deg flare dies as well as bubble and double flares. Included was 25 feet of stainless 3/-16” brake line all for the same price as the Eastwood tool.
I also made a a tubing straightener since I’m cheap and didn’t want to spend the $100-200 for the same tool.
And finally was able to get the last of the undercoat chipped ground and burnt off the pan. Not a great time but it’s done.
