Last couple of days I've smelled something dead. After not finding the corpse I opened the top. Little f'ers got me.

Two questions. For those of you that have to store outside, how do you deter mice?

Easy canvas patch/repair? I'm fortunate it's in the back under the overhang so it's less of a weather issue and more of a bug issue when the top is open.

I suggest you try to patch it. Something artful. As far as keeping mice out I have no clue

While I lean toward the kill them dead solution, I had a mouse gnawing in the ceiling near a smoke detector, with no way to get poison in the ceiling.
I shoved a q tip soaked with peppermint oil into the gap after taking off the detector. Its been a month and the wee bastid has not returned.

Mice (and their slightly cuter, but just as destructive cousins chipmunks and squirrels) don’t deter easy. I used this stuff called Rat A Way after they chewed up the washer system and wiring in my daily. It helped. Some. Still caught a couple in traps under the hood in the course of a few weeks. They honestly DGAF. It wasn’t until a couple of feral cats showed up that I got much relief. I know that’s not much help, but it’s all I got.

Effing hilarious!!!!!

I’m not a cat guy, but....we now have a cat. A gigantic Maine Coon, he spends most of his time outside or in the garage. Guess what, no rodents around my house now.

Or you could get a peregrine.... 😂

You can put Vaseline on rubber parts to keep mice away. You use that on the rubber of your garage door. I put Vaseline on tarps to stop mice from eating them. Not sure if that would harm canvas.

Best luck I've had is with moth balls.

I tried the bounce sheets, Irish spring, etc. Nope. Moth balls work well for me. Maybe that's just New England meeces.

I had a plott hound that would hunt anything and everything from the moment she woke until dropped exhausted at night. Watching a 70lb dog try to get into a 1”x1” hole was entertaining. She learned patience and would sit there rock still until they came back out. Only dog I’ve ever had that would snatch a sparrow out of the air. Damn she was fast. Good doggo, hope she’s having a blast on the other side of the rainbow bridge.

The PO of our motorhome tried to use dryer sheets. The mice just peed on them.

HA! Just did. I swear to the All Mighty - my dog was meant for that. She has the Murder Death Kill Gene for sure. We were going to paint her kills on the fence like a WW2 Fighter Pilot. Rolling Eyes Laughing

The super cheap dryer sheets from the dollar store work really well for about 6 months. Heavy distribution is the key ( I would do 4 packs spread about).

Isn't isnt called the MIC....Key to War, for no reason..

Air Force guys often fly both ways, Ive noticed. Thats why we don't let them on ships. Naval Aviators at least keep their interests above the belt.
