Thanks Joey thats awesome, looks good, I am sure you are happy with the results. Makes my job easier now that I have a visual when I go to do mine. Home this Saturday see you shortly after that, and I will check out the new install in person.

Cheers,
Mike

Anything from '56 to '64 will work.

Great topic!!! Thanks!

Planning to convert the one piece windows of my '54 oval bug too...
Finally found all the period correct pieces! Shocked

Next step is to bend me an U-profile out of some sheet metal (1 mm thick?) for the support... I understand the profile should be 140 mm long, 18 mm wide... but how high did you make your support?

Thanks!!

Peter

Thank! You know how high, the actual channel (bracket) you welded in, was?
I'm planning to use sheet metal glue to avoid damage on my paint... Confused

Thx
Peter

Depends on how much material was hacked and/or trimmed.

I'm going to add this here just in case anyone recently is trying to add back their vent windows. My brother and I will be tackling this job for ourselves and is starting to gather the bits and pieces needed for the job.

He actually found this guy is Japan that is reproducing the inner metal that needs to be welding into the channel.

He bought the pair and is waiting to see if they will work for his 62' doors.

but if they do, this will save considerable time!

Really interested to hear if these parts were any good, and if you managed to add your window vents back in successfully?

My ‘61 has one piece windows (fitted by a PO in the 90s). My near side window regulator now needs replacing so I’m contemplating reverting to the original two-piece windows, but finding donor doors is not easy/cheap.

Taking off the door card for the first time since I bought the car in 2005 has revealed some interesting butchery scars that I can only assume were required in order to fit the later regulator into the early door?

Shocked

(The piece of wood is wedging the glass up in place due to the regulator being stuck fully-open)

Thank you very much!
After the last "to do list" I assume, it is not possible to change the outer chrome trim/scraper thing without touching the vent window? At my car, I'm only interested in changing this, because of a destroyed rubber scraper itself...

@iamthewalrus30 – I would love to know how you got on with this? The eBay link is dead now so if you have any more info on sourcing the inner metal pieces from Japan that would be really useful.

All I have and can tell you the seller, currently has nothing for sale. Not sure if or how they can be contacted through eBay?

As for installing these I don’t have the time to install right now. I’m moving and need to remodel house before I can get back to my cars.
