I pulled my brand new replacement master cylinder out of the box and the ports for the pressure switches are a little different from the original.
The switch ports are both horizontally straight across from the brake line outlet ports.
On the old MC (1971 Westy) the FRONT outlet and switch ports are directly across from each other horizontally but on the REAR set, the port for the switch is offset downwards about 45 degrees (so as to not be in the way of the emergency brake cable I assume). I’m afraid that without this offset the E brake cable would come into contact with the pressure switch.
The new replacement was advertised as having an extra unused port and came with a plug. This unused port is at the very rear of the unit in the center and I wonder if I can use this port for the switch and just plug the one directly across from the line outlet? Did they do this instead of tapping the back switch port at the 45 degree angle that the old one has? This would put the switch at 90 degrees to the line outlet instead of directly across from it. I believe my wire harness will be long enough to account for the difference. I’m just not sure what this back port is for. There is room for the switch back there as long as this extra port serves the same function as the other two ports for the rear chamber inside the MC? Anyone seen this before or have any advice?

I had the exact same situation. I installed the plug on the side and placed the switch on the back of the MC - it’s been working just fine for the past three years.
