Price plus tax, title, and dust pan??? I think the GhiaPet was in better condition than this trap. I'd maybe pay $500 just for the parts I could sell off it... People are really high lately, and I don't mean prices.

I see about $3500 in parts. Way over priced. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Trying to help a friend find his old build. Ghiaja was built in Eureka,Ca and sold to Reno, Nv in late '80's or so, to a score racer. on a '67 pan, all metal body mods, full roll cage. Be nice to know anything about any of it. Thanks

Picked up this 58-59? at an auction over the weekend. It’s pretty rough, but the pans and heater channels are surprisingly solid despite it laying in the dirt for who knows how long. I believe it may have originally been from North Carolina judging from the inspection sticker from 1967. Should be a fun project

I'm actually a little envious. I would love a new project like that. But I think my wife will divorce me. _________________ Festina lente - hasten slowly

Not today but about a year ago, I drove to New Mexico and stopped at Laurence Malone's [RIP] hideaway because he had three Ghias for sale.
Here's a 1956. Laurence's first car was a different 1956 Ghia. The dent in the door is from an angry lover, he told me.
The brown one is a 1969 and the red is a 1966. The 1966's front drums had been converted to 4-lug bug drums.
So, who's Laurence Malone?
He was the US National Cyclocross (precursor to mountain biking) Champion five years in a row.
He once was held by the Palestine Liberation Army in Lebanon for two weeks after following a woman there. When the PLO first took him in, they were wary of him because he was carrying a desiccated ear from a mummy he'd literally tripped over the week before in Egypt.
At his place near Santa Fe, he had dozens of cars, Peugeot 404s being his favorite and he worked around the clock repairing bicycles. His warehouse had hundreds of two-wheelers and a few of them, he told me, were retired racing bikes.
His library took up every room of his house except the kitchen.
I didn't buy any of his Ghias but I spent five or six hours in philosophical conversation with this very interesting man.

genuine field find, almost 20 years ago. Just brought it home this summer. The VIN plate was recently stolen but the body number is 405. Pan is MIA, but am hopeful that I may find it sometime.
All vert bits are there and only suffering from some surface rust. Pretty sweet find I think. |
