I am looking for a full flow oil filter kit for a 72 type 3 fasty. Are these kits available? I checked ac.net and did not list them. And if they are, do these clear the support bar? Thanx, guys.

Not sure about a kit. I had a full flowed fasty. It needed the block drilled and tapped, and the oil pump cover, with the fitting also. I had to clearance the shrouds, which I didnt like. Its been awhile, and I cant really remember alot. Im sure someone here has one.

I get the whole machining bit, as this is probably the best mod you can make. But cutting into the shroud, seems that would create a problem or at least a potential one. I will keep looking around but if someone readily knows of a kit, let me know...Thanx...

Don't need to clearnace the fan shroud if you use the right combination of fittings.

Excellent Russ. I had a hack working on mine, and he just cut it.

I can confirm what Russ said. Gene Berg sells complete kits made for T3s with all the proper fittings. I used one on my 2110. The upper fittings are a little different than the pic Russ posted and work fine. There may be some very MINOR clearance issues on the front of the inner fan housing where it mates to the case and on IRS cars the rear engine support bar must be clearanced. My housing needed VERY minimal clearancing which did not affect the overall housing.

We shaved some off the shroud which caused a small hole (about 1/16" no big deal). We also shaved some of the meat off the brass coupling. Works fine.

what size of oil pump are you guys using? Is it a stock pump? I have a 32 on my T1 for added flow and pressure for external filter and full flow however it sticks out of the case a tad bit more which concerns me as T3 already have full flow clearance issues. TIA

26mm is needed to clear the fan shroud. 30 and 32 are too large.

A 26 fits, but the pump studs may need to be cut off. Mine pushed the shroud so it was rubbed by the fan. I had to reach in with a hacksaw blade to get the required clearance. I should have caught it when I assembled it, but I wasn't looking for it. Fortunately, it was a lower one I could reach and fix in place.

Chico performance built my engine and tapped into the block for full flow adapters.

Brothers Machining also does this mod... clean work:

But of course it all has to come apart to do this. And as you can see in the photo, there isn't much arc to tighten fittings... I had to buy a thin offset wrench set to be able to fit the hoses later. All is well, though, no leaks.

Pulling this from the dead apparently...

Working on a late model squareback with the rear moustache bar engine mount.

What is everybody doing for oil pump clearance? I have a 26mm oil pump with a standard steel end plate. Should I clearance the end plate on the pump, or the motor mount? Or a combo of both?

Not sure what would be needed to fit the moustache bar as this is going into a swing axle car.

Playing with an in/out (opposite ends) maxi 3 from CB performance. A little machine work on the cover to countersink the hardware, only taking as much as needed. I also spun the bolts in the lathe, making the heads smaller to reduce the amount of material removed from the cover. Waiting on a 45 degree fitting for the LHS, but it looks like it will clear the fan shroud without having to clearance anything.
