No......I lived in PHX at the time so it wasn't a big concern. I tried not to drive in the rain, but when I had to, I just laid towels down. I messed around with several different drain pan designs, but didn't like any of them.

Big floppy magnets on the underside of the hood would / will work.
I agree that the louvers where cool back then I had them on my 67 Fastbcak Front and rear I still like them. I actually would love to find a place that still does louvering today. The Louvers on this squareback have no style to them they are just square and plain,
Don the ones on the back of my car were done by Sir Michaels when he was down by Boyds' old place. I'm pretty sure he's still in business down in Huntington Beach. He has dies for all sorts of different style louvers. If you give him a call tell him I said ...Hello. Norm

Somehow, someday, these 80's custom Type 3's will become true classics!

What was the asking price? This is one of my favorites.

Anyone have any pics of that red Square with the chop top and white flames that was a centerfold pic from VW Trends (I think).

What? Louvers being cool Shocked I never took a liking to them. They can stay on the shelf with "hot tuna" stickers and pep boys double neon windshield wiper blades-with the accessory wind deflector to help push them down Rolling Eyes

Yeah!

I prefer a Type 3 will all the original mouldings on it sans that louvers and other out-of-this-world-modification~~~ just my own opinion!

Bwahahahahaha!

As far as louvers went, if the were creatively used & not overdone they had their place. I liked them on bug decklids. They just looked like they belonged. JMO.

Nice, I tried to buy that car a few times but he would never give me a price, or tell me if he would accept my offer.
