So why is it when I turn on my park lights the dash lights come on and then when I switch to headlights the dashlights turn off? I am almost positive that everything is plugged into the right spot...it's 67 |

If everything were plugged into the right place...... that wouldn't happen.... Get a diagram, & go over it. |

there is only one wire that runs from the switch to the gauges.

hmmm, try a new switch? The dash lights should be connected to one of the 58's.
On your headlight switch there are two 58 posts, a 30 & a 56. Headlights are on 56, positive lead is on 30, dash lights & running lights are on 58. |

Don't call shane red "goofy". He's kinda sensitive that way. |

WAIT! Before you start rewiring your car, know that the 67 Beetles had two different wiring setups. There was an early and late wiring scheme and I believe the difference had to do with where the wires for the fender parking lights attached.
The dash lights are always hooked up to blade 58b.
In early cars the Parking Lights are attached to the 57 blades on the light switch.
On later cars, the Parking Lights are attached to the 3rd & 4th fuses.
(Note: I'm counting from the center of the car -1- to the driver's side -10- This works whether you're looking at the fusebox from the interior, or from the trunk.)
Hope this helps. _________________ '67s Rule & '71 Buses Too! |
