First off - I’m new to The Samba as a member but have been an avid reader for a long time.. I am not one to post, but this is a post to say thanks and acknowledge the community more than anything. The Site is a wealth of knowledge with great people contributing content. If specific information can’t be found, directions on where to find it can be. I picked up my second bug early last summer (2020) as a project to keep me occupied during the COVID days and what a great self investment it’s been. Rekindling the enjoyment and memories of my first bug (and first car) in the early 90’s. From the researching, reading and information gathering to the actual work and satisfaction of the results on the road. I found a 69 in more or less the condition I wanted to allow some ongoing project and maintenance work, but in running condition to enjoy while the work continues.
There is still of laundry list of items to keep me occupied- most of it will start again in the fall\winter. Some of the wait is for parts and choosing to wait for the Border to open, (proper carb, dist. and fuel pump, maybe new seat pads and or mats) and some of it is to combine work (clocking generator etc) and drive as much as I can while the good weather is here as it doesn’t go out in the rain. It’s now a great driver runs very good as is.

Here’s a couple pictures of where it’s currently at.
Comments or questions are much appreciated.

I notice the seemingly small things that mean so much, like the molding on the windows. Of course it takes more effort and cost to make it happen, but in the end, it makes for a stunning restoration and makes your Beetle perfectly classy. I agree that the color is amazing. |

Thanks for all the positive comments. A lot of the car is still original, and not replaced - it shows it’s character in person. That was the goal though, keep what I can, clean it up, preserve what is saveable, replace what is needed with quality parts and fix up PO’s work and shortcuts where I can, all in the end to enjoy it on the road.

Where have you been hiding! That's the best looking car I've seen all day. Glad to know you are *driving* it. |
Thanks- I’ve been hiding in the garage while it’s been on jackstands for 6 months. Yes it’s a driver albeit fair weather driver. Put 50-60 miles on it just yesterday. Should put 3k on it by the Fall. |

Ha- There always seems to be a never ending list, as you work and chip away at it you find new items to add to the list. |
