70 squareback
it started opening a little bit with the handle
now it no longer opens
its cracked open a little bit
I need to be able to get the panel down
possibly Slide the sunroof panel back and or temporarily take it out??

Does the inside pan remove like door panels?

I'm sure i can figure most the other out thereafter

Sharksinman is alive!!!

Nice to hear from you!

Yes, the inner panel has 5 clips, you unclip them at the front (towards the windshield)

Slide it back. That gives you access to the levers on the rearmost part of the outer metal panel so you may slide out the sunroof.

Now undo the adjusting knobs on the front and you may remove the whole panel.

Hope this helps!

And to remove the inner panel, you have to remove the side guides and slide it out of them.

This manual on the Samba is for later cars, but I think the sunroof mechanicals are similar:

And this thread has some help:

The brown Bentley also covers the sunroof. It's in the Body Section.
