Very quiet. Basically just hear the reductions whine. Most noise come though the cab floor. Going to put some sound deadening in the splash pan if I ever get it painted. Haha. Cab fender covers will help also when I remember to order them.

Wife is making a quilted panel to go behind the bench to cover all the bare steel. Mostly for insulation but will also kill a bit more sound.

First year we drove it with no interior we couldn't talk while driving. Now we can talk normally.

Actually using the solar panels in the sun. Smile

Haven't got the program finished. Plan to add panel voltage as I'm running a MPPT charger.

Keeping the battery up with fridge set to 1°c so all good. Fridge setting increase up to max of 5° when system detects battery only.

Thank you for all of the info you have shared on your build! I noticed you had drawings for just about everything. Also, at the beginning of the thread, you had a CAD model of the interior. Would you have step files available? I can work backwards from the drawings, but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Thanks. I have had a lot of requests for the cad models. Have not made them available here in the past as they may not be perfect. Made some fitting changes and am not sure the drawings were updated.

So anyway I decided to add links to the 360 files here with a disclaimer about accuracy. Will try to get that done in the next few days.

These are my existing CAD models. This is my own design loosely based on different available cabinets of the time. They are not exact to what I built. They may not fit correctly. If you want use these I suggest reading through the full thread. These fit 64 to 67 but could be modified for a earlier narrow hatch bus.

I had made changes as I built the cabinets and may not have updated all the models. Some details like folding shelf and table are a different design than what I went with. I suggest using scrap for fitting then transfer the pattern to good material after.

No commercial use.

These are shares to my fusion 360 files. Upper right is a download button with different formats available. It emails the files to you.
Edit: sometimes it can be quite a delay for email to arrive

That is quite cool. Nice for someone with an original camper interior.

We wanted everything to have it's place in our bus and accessible from the doors for cooking and such. Working very well but still some improvements we will make. Just checked my todo list for this thing and have 46 items...

Time to get camping again.

Wife is making new curtains. This will be the third set. They fade badly after two years in the sun. We like thin light material and haven't found it in UV resistant.

Bit darker pattern this time and we like how it looks. It was cheap and available so we decided to give it a try.

Curtains finished. Very happy with them. We have enough material left over to make a few more sets. Smile

Same design as last ones except side windows are slightly longer.

Awning leaks in heavy rain. I tried a spray can water proofing last year but didn't have any effect.

After some research I found that Fabric Guard 303 was the best mid range product for awning material. Gave the top two coats and one on the sides. I purchased two 946ml bottles and was just enough. Must have applied it a little thick. Smile

We will find out how it works in the next couple weeks.

A comment on your 2022 post on failing curtain material ...

I know that this suggestion is not for stock purists but it works well for self-built campers. I received these curtains from the original owner in 2006 and they are still in use. One difference is that they are not in the sun all day, nor are they blocking visibility when driving. They just hook up to sheet metal screws when needed and go away in a bag the rest of the time. Takes no time at all to set them up.

Actually, your design is very similar to mine. Maybe the big difference in our curtain durability is that mine are rarely up during the day, hence no sun fading.

Our curtains are up all the time and bus is outside 6 or 7 months a year. Except the cab curtains that are only up when camping. They don't fade noticeably.

I want to thank you for all the great ideas you've given me these past few months on my 1965 camper build. I saved so much effort and time using your panel drawings. I will be taking my camper out for its first campout next week. I'll post some pictures of my trip when I return on Thursday. You are correct on the time it takes to travel in an old bus. If Google says 2 hours you had better plan on at least 3 to 4 hours. Half of that time is spent answering questions at every gas or food stop. Thanks again.

OMG sgellis, I accidentally stumbled across your YouTube and as I'm looking halfway through all I could say to myself is "wow this bus is 100 times better than my westy in the woodworking/functionality category among other areas. Then it dawned on me "it's your bus and that's you!". So cool to see and hear you and get to know this beautiful bus even better. Now I'll reread the entire thread again. Both you and your bus are celebrities. Wink

This is fantastic and thank you for sharing! I also found your models on GrabCAD so thanks again for this amazing resource. I was thinking about doing this myself, especially with the LiDAR scanning on the newer iPhones, might make data capture a little easier?

Im the proud new owner of a 67 T2 split and hope to start my journey getting the old bus looking as nice as yours.
Thanks Again
