well there is a difference between a weld that's supposed to be seen (e.g. in a roll cage or a bike frame) and one that's meant to be hidden (as in body fabrication) _________________ cars:

so here i sit wondering what the best color would be for this car.

I'm sure the team will try and match it to original as much as possible. My guess the color originally was taken straight from Daimler Benz paint stock. What was the exact tone is still a mystery to me but it had to be a light shade such as grey, beige, light green or blue. I'm truly hopeful the team has managed to unearth reliable leads in the archives. _________________ Check out my Facebook page: Volkswagen Prototypes. |

Simply amazing work.
I never realised how flat the edges of the windscreen metal work was, it looks to be in complete contrast to the rest of the smooth and swooping lines. Unless there's a lot more work to be done in this area?

I went through my collection of W30 photos and was not able to find a good reference photo of the A-pillar. From what I can see that fold is pretty sharp but it's hard to make a conclusive comparison. _________________ Check out my Facebook page: Volkswagen Prototypes. |

Behold a masterclass on how to make a door from scratch! This is absolutely amazing work. First the perimeter frame of the door.

Just noticed this update, so awesome, at first you think that flat panel is never going to look good, then they add the curves and you know its going to look amazing finished.
Great work, so good to see the construction stage, not just a completed car. _________________ When I think of something to say - I'll be the first to know

More work on the fist door. The hinges are installed and the door "hung" so that the entire geometry of the door frame and the door itself as well as the interaction between the two parts can be finalized before the outer skin will be added.

Another exciting detail update, the lock mechanism and handle getting installed. The inner door parts are mostly from period Mercedes parts bin such as the handle borrowed from the 170V model.
The finger recess panels have already been stamped for both doors ready to be let into the outer skin panel.

Fantastic! It's really progressing well, makes you realise someone had to come up with all these details in the first place. _________________ When I think of something to say - I'll be the first to know
