Hey everyone,
I've been having this issue with my fuel guage on my 73 super where it doesn't drop below 1/2 full. When I fill up it goes to full just fine and drops steadily as it should but it rarely goes below 1/2. When it does go below half full it shoots right back to 1/2 within minutes. Occasionally while I'm driving the gauge drops to empty and then goes right back to 1/2 in a matter of seconds. The sending unit is relatively new, since my tank and sending unit were replaced maybe 5 years ago? So I'm thinking it's the gauge itself that's messed up. What do you guys think?
Thanks! |

I think most likely suspect is the sending unit. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. Try running a ground line from sending unit screw to gage ground, aftermarket sending units and gages need to be grounded together. |
