I tried to start with the installation of a Newton Commercial narrow weave carpet in my 1957 ghia last weekend.
I started with the rear whell wells according to the fitting instruction.
Preheated the carpet piece and tried to shape it to fit.
It was an impossible mission. Even though I preheated it and tried to shape it I could not get a good fit.
How do you get it to fit? Anyone that has suceeded with this operation and with this kit?

Steam is what the pros use. If no steamer, try misting the carpet piece and then adding the heat to form.

Don't know what you're using to apply heat, but I found that a heat gun works well for this. A hair dryer, or something similar, won't put out enough heat to soften the carpet sections enough to form them properly.

yes, plenty of heat, but take care not to melt it.
I also worked it over my knee (with thick trousers on) to get some shape into it.
I remember on one side of the heater tube having to cut a little V in one piece and glue it down to avoid a 'pucker'

Thanks for the link to this thread! That really helped. It made me realise that I have used the wrong piece on the wrong side when it comes to the rear wheel arches. I thought for some reason that the edge banding was supposed to be pointing downward. Embarassed
