Great time. I sold some stuff, picked up some stuff, and didn’t come home with more stuff than I went down with, so that was good. Laughing

Talked to friends, and met new ones.

I guess my only comment is it would be good if they could mow the lawn for camping. Tough to camp in and walk through grass that’s a foot tall.

Had a good time ! Saw some old friends and also meet some new ! Picked up a part I was looking for for a great price from my old friend Brad ! I just going to comment on the grass in the camping field ! I think for the $15 that they charge us they could have mowed it.

meh...was a bit annoying that the grass was ankle high but i'm just glad the show was on.

that said, how about eliminate the stop lights every 18" and pave the roads thru town. the grass issue was honestly a minor issue

67ctbug, I saw your black '67 while sitting at the covered tables, but missed bumping into you. How's your newly built engine running meanwhile? I saw you picked up an engine case that you had in front of the car. Is that for yet another engine project?

This was probably my favorite car in the show, which I saw for the first time-

I was at that show also. Didn't know that 74 Beetle was that unique. I think the wheels threw me off.

APPLE, considering that the meet was a big magnet to us NorthEastern VW enthusiasts, sorry I did not run into you. I saw Mustie1 (Darryl from the many VW engine "will it run?" videos on YT) right in front of me but he was dealing with Richie from frequent Samba advertiser Richie's Garage in NJ so I did not want to interrupt and introduce myself. Several others came up to me whom I had not seen in prob. 10 years. Also missed Lost79Convertible from Rhode Island. I'm sure I was within feet of others from tS but without an identifying name badge or T-shirt, etc we were likely just another face in the crowd. There was no Samba group shot located at the event DJ Jim D like there was in the late 00's, taken often by crukab or Stanagon.

Yes, the show was a magnet for us guys. I saw Mustie1 and vwnut 1967 walking around the swap meet area. Were you the one who bought the NOS Webers DCNF kit?

No... I examined them closely and the price was amazing, but... I have a refurbished pair already as well as a pair of DCNs, and I had a few other parts in mind that were higher up the wish list. Supposedly the man who looked at them right after I set them down bought them. Were you watching while I had them in my hands?

The carburetors were in great condition, but the intakes and linkage kit, were junk parts. If I had a nice set of GB or DDS intakes and linkage kit, I would maybe bought them. A lot of guys checked out those DCNF carburetors, but only one took them home. I knew you would have check out those carburetors also.

Another interesting VW from this event- Sharon P's eye-catching and very well done '69 EMPI GTV Beetle from Connecticut was displayed in the Custom class.

I'm not an expert on original/genuine EMPI accessories to differentiate from repros, but this Beetle had many: large side air scoops, hood-mounted tachometer pod, 4.5" Sprint Star rims, chromed taillamp housings, front spoiler, steering wheel, Kamei-style center console, dash wood grain, door-top wood trim, E-Z-R shifter, dual Type 3-style external oil cooler kit, the body C-stripes and scallops. Engine had later EMPI Weber 34 ICT-style carburetors. Did not see the oil lines from the oil cooler kit in the engine compartment.

I saw that but wasn't 100% sure.

Are the oil coolers connected?

The side scoops are not the correct EMPI scoops. Also, the sporadic placement of the GTV badges/decals on the front and rear quarter panels is not correct. The side scallops are too far aft and not sure what’s up with the mirror or roof.
I LOVE the GTV look and overall - this is a nice car. The owner likes it, it shows nice, and it’s got some interesting things going on. Maybe a bit too much for my taste - but it’s not my car. lol
Would have loved to see a more authentic knod to the GTV though.
