it looks like the owner wanted to have the outside look like nothing was done but had the entire drivetrain, breaks, etc done, all the MOT critical rust repaired, and painted like new. including the cab. I personally prefer that look over the opposite option where the outside is "restored" and the underneath and drivetrain is shit.
"Repaired" would be a lot better word. |
I agree with you on that. I’d rather have - when the option is either/or and not both - the basis and all driving mechanisms in great order and form than a possibly-safe-to-drive vic with a slick paint job and peanut brittle underneath. _________________ ,,Wenige Menschen denken, und doch wollen alle entscheiden.'' -der Alte Fritz

I believe those dots are boogers of weld. You too can get a set of those seats for only $650! It's all part of the faux rat rod culture that refuses to die.

If I bought that bus and wanted to restore it, would I be restoring the restoration.
And why do people sell campers and not show any of the camping interior? A HUGE percentage of the value is the OG camping equipment and we don't get one picture. _________________ Greg

Quite a lot of people use the word "restored" to mean "fixed up".
Though they can also use it in the sense Lind does.
Maybe be a bit more specific about what you find confusing about the nomenclature? _________________ The Obsolete Air-Cooled Documentation Project http://oacdp.org/ |

Not a price whine but check out the interior on this '64:

Guy scored if he got an earlier interior to plug into that Bus.
This is the kind of thing where someone should buy that Bus just to get the interior for their 62-63 Standard or Deluxe.

Kick panels are 12/62- 4/64. wrong headlight bucket hole for a 1962 bus.
Think it also has a 64 middle seat. looks like the more square middle seat kick panel.
No pictures of the back end of the long panel, but I'd guess it has the later, innie vent version, above pic is missing rear hatch panel, I'd guess 64 lower corner panels, and the 63-64 bulkhead panel.
there are 6 (7?) versions of basalt interior panel sets, plus w/t compared to bench. Hard to tell from the 2 pics how complete and exactly what year/month the interior is.
When did they go from sewn seams to heat seams? Nice middle and rear seat!
March 1964 microbus, not kombi? or was it out of another bus?

On the seat kick panel, I don't know.
Here's a larger pic of the seat leg and kick panel if you want to see if that looks like a kicked-out '64 seat leg by the cargo door.
I can't tell for sure.
To me the seat leg looks straight but the kick panel looks like it's not installed all the way?
Or maybe if it's a later kick for some reason it doesn't fit right.
It's sewn seams and "62-63" grab handles though so not sure if that's possible for a '64 seat?
I've seen the 62-63 handles on heat-seamed seats, like VW was using them up first but not sure I've seen sewn seams on a '64 seat frame.
The Bus was a Kombi but the interior was from another Bus - a Standard. _________________ How to Post Photos

Is it me or is this painted some kind of weird turquoise? Doesn't look Turkis to me:
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2471706
I would expect Turkis to look more like this:
https://www.oldbug.com/brinder.htm
You'd think a big dollar bus would have a BC. It's pretty much the ideal 63 23 though: Typ 25 (short middle seat) and walk thru, and...Turkis. _________________ '63 German Walk-Thru Deluxe 15-window - SOLD

Yes, I saw that Bus and thought the Green was wrong on it.
Plus it was originally a Mouse Grey Bus.
Wrong interior for a Turkis Bus too - it should be green too, of course - Como Green
I do like that he posted a link to a zillion photos so you can see all the details.
There's TONS wrong on this Bus if you wanted it to be "correct" for 1963 but I assumed he built it for himself originally. _________________ How to Post Photos

Wow, it is amazing what happens when an unsuspecting brazilian bus is converted into a 23 window-ish looking thing _________________ regards

So he's trying to flip it for a quick $20,000? Shouldn't it be in the Brazilian bus section of the classifieds? What's with the bent metal just behind the cargo doors? He is right about one thing, it's not a six figure bus.

I moved it.
I emailed him too.
Maybe he doesn't know it's a fake 23 or a Brazilian Bus. _________________ How to Post Photos

This thing being offered again at a lowered $25,000! What a wonderful deal...
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2480081
Listed as being in 'Good condition'
I love that he downplays the dents on the roof as being "Hippie dents". Whatever the fuck that means... |

Might be worth it if it had been featured on the cover of an enthusiast magazine back in the day with a bunch of pictures and narrative. It would be worth more if it was possible to talk to the 1st owner who sent you even more photos of the bus in use......

Ok, so it's an asking game is it?
Put the damned price in the ad!
Also, why sound so aggressive in your ads, if you dont want to sell, dont sell. Sheesh. _________________ Bus Builder |

I'm 100% sure you can't randomly say it's going on BaT.
They have to approve it and want to auction it. |
That’s correct. BAT isn’t eBay, they pick and choose what gets auctioned on their site.
If I remember correctly, they also do not list the same vehicle twice. They might under certain conditions but if it doesn’t meet reserve they won’t re-list it. |
