Decklid Rack for 1974 Super Convertible

I’ve owned my Super (Lolo) for almost a year now. In that time I’ve done some extensive rust repair, bodywork, paint, new interior and convertible top, new rubber and seals throughout, and just have a few more upgrades I want to do, like disk brakes and create a new-old-school dash. For this past year, I’ve also been looking for a Decklid rack, and everywhere I asked, they said it their rack would not work with the super and it’s gas strut bumper brackets. That was until a friend of mine recommended Al and Foreign Concepts VW:

The rack is created by Al and his wife and is great quality and attention to detail. Even all the screws are aligned to the rack, which fulfills my OCD requirements! Haha! I highly recommend Al and Foreign Concepts, such a nice guy and a true enthusiast. Al fabricated a bracket that connects to a 1.5” U bracket from Home Depot (I added some vinyl beer line to protect my paint), and it works perfectly (see photos). Even if you don’t use Al, I’m sure this simple mod should work with any decklid rack manufacturer. Thanks for taking a look!
