Hi folks,
I have been scouring all the threads I could find including those posted from tcash, and Volkswagen color charts, lists from Wolfsburg West, All I could find was a question mark on the bumpers for silver white L82, Wolfsburg lists 90D pastel white…..hoping for some clarification on colors for the bumpers, and the fiberglass pop top. I had my wheels powder coated in a silver that was they were, before doing research. Any one know the original color for the wheels ?? 1977 Westy L63H exterior
Thanks All |

Go back to that color chart. There is a caption at the bottom that tells you color of the wheels _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

The samba chart kind of stops after 70 IIRC, silver white is for wide 5 wheels.
Bumpers; Pastel white, wheels; aluminium (silver), top; whitish gel coat that's very similar to Pastel white for a 77. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Thanks for the response,
Still not clear on the answers.
So I assume despite the 50-? that the color for the 77 wheels and bumpers are L82 silver white ?. Where does Woflsburg West chart come up with L90D for the bumper. As I am not a strict restoration person close will have to do .As for the wheels still confused with no numbers for the silver (aluminum) which I guess really doesn't matter as I have had them already powder coated. I have the original bumper with white on it so I will assume that to be the color I am looking for maybe a rattle can of each color may help. I have seen a variety of photos of the pop top restored. Was the original finish shiny or a satin look , not real fond of the shiny look. Once I figure the colors, top to be sanded and then primed, base coat a polyester resin according to my body guy with a semi gloss or satin clear coat. Any other thoughts are appreciated.

Wrong, wheels turned L91 Chrome color (AKA Aluminum or silver in August or 1970 and remained the same from then onwards (except Champagne II edition with red wheels).

Likely the same place I look, factory parts manuals, factory paint lists, looking at original parts and matching to a chip chart. L90D is Pastel white, it was used from Aug 70 till the mid 90's for the upper color on two tones, main color on white buses and the bumpers on Bay's.
The gel coat wasn't glossy, but not flat either, it started as a semi gloss and dulls as it ages, L90D is a very close match to the original gel coat color. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.
