I wonder where they got their idea for a company name?

Syncros was founded as a bike company in 1986, so that'd be some really fast brand theft. I've used their components since the early 1990s.

EDIT: Wait, just saw it says that right there on the link posted by Ms. Taboo too. |
Yeah, I have a Syncros seatpost on my 94 Cannondale and lusted after a set of their cranks back in the day. This is no big deal.
How about this, did VW steal their Alltrack name from Toyota? https://www.autoweek.com/car-life/classic-cars/a18...-all-trac/ _________________ '91 Westfalia GL Automatic (GTA "Turbo" Rebuild w/Peloquin) and 2.3L GoWesty Engine |

Too bad they're featuring Shimano. All hard cyclists know Sram is the best for road and offroad. _________________ Glenn

Yeah, another bike guy here. It's pronounced sink-ROS (with the S sound) and not sink-ROZ (as in, more than one Syncro). Never used their stuff myself but it's been acknowledged as top-shelf since its introduction.
When I was ten I got a Schwinn Corvette for Christmas and that bothered me until 1986 when I got over stuff like that. _________________ '87 Westy in Wolfram Grey Metallic

You were bothered that your bike had the same name as a 1600s French boat?

I like the idea of a turning point of getting over stuff in1986. _________________ - Jim

Does anyone know why VW dumped the term Syncro in favor of 4motion? I wonder if Syncro couldn't be preserved for VW's exclusive use. _________________ - Jim

It's probably because VW switched from a mechanical drivetrain to an electronic (in whole or in part) drivetrain and wanted to separate/distinguish the two generations. The nameplate "4motion" was introduced when VW began installing the Haldex and Torsen-LSD systems in their vehicles. _________________ ~Kamz

LOL, not if you like brakes that don’t feel like mush and enjoy being able to upshift multiple gears with a single lever throw. They do have a nice method of brake bleeding though. Oh geez, is this turning into another oil thread? _________________ '91 Westfalia GL Automatic (GTA "Turbo" Rebuild w/Peloquin) and 2.3L GoWesty Engine |

I have to agree; Syncro sounds like you have a transmission problem. Well, in this case, perhaps it's fitting. _________________ John - 86 Wolfsburg Westfalia "Weekender"
