Hello everybody!
I was picking up my van from German Transaxle of America (GTA) here in Bend, Oregon the other day and got to talking with one of their technicians. They were doing some warranty work on my rebuilt trans and had noticed that I didn't have the stock throttle linkage that goes from my automatic transmission to the throttle body on my WBXer. Now, I am missing mine because a previous owner swap the manual trans that my van came with for an auto (I don't know why either) and never used the factory linkage so I don't have one.
Anyway, we dug around in some parts bins and discovered that they had exactly one unbroken bar linkage, a part that I have done a bit of searching for without much luck. These bar linkages see to be pretty NLA, hard to find and they do break occasionally. Jessie, the technician, and Ken, the owner of GTA, suggested that they could send off their one good one and get some reproductions made for those of us who need them.
I'm here to see if there's any in the community in about getting these made and available. Thanks!
If you look at item 13 in the diagram in this thread you can see the long multi-piece bar that I am talking about.

FAS makes a cable version for 50 degree Tiico and their own auto kits. It might be more versatile to build a kit with end brackets which can use a universal cable, and thus can be used in a variety of swaps and configurations. _________________ Casey--

I got one from vanagain a couple years ago, needed it and ken was the only vendor I could find.
If somebody had one to go by it should be relatively easy to machine. So, I’d buy a spare at 100 bucks shipped or less. Supply would be fairly easy to build and demand, while a needed part, would still come from a small group. _________________ 1991 Vanagon GL 2.1 AT Westfauxlia. They should go whole hog and get someone to make the Shifter Cable while they're at it, I believe both parts are NLA. So, I vote for Relay Rod/ Linkage Rod, and the cable /rod assembly for the shifter up front..... _________________ '68 Westy- my first VW and vehicle/Bus- long gone.- sold it to a traveling Swiss couple....

that's easy enough. B&M sells a cable that would replace ours with a little modification.
i was concerned about them being NLA and people want 200+ for a used one. i'll take an hour and make one from a B&M cable thank you very much
now that i'm a proud (neutered) automatic owner i went on the hunt for NLA stuff and came up with a plan B for all of it _________________

It’s on the website but it appears to be out of stock. |
I ordered one along with a few others. It is super beefy, where do they usually break? At the weld? _________________ Driving a 90 Carat since 2014
