I'm not sure about "owning" the open road in a Vanagon. "Making patient, steady progress upon" the open road seems more appropriate.

I may have mentioned that I saw this but could not get a snip, but managed to do so the next time the ad for Blix electric bikes came up on YouTube. Doesn't look like she bothers to lock up the van or the bike.

From the netflix series Documentary Now! where Fred Armison goes off in search of Gary Larsen (the series is a Lorne Michaels' spoof on docs, it's funny enough to watch...EDIT: it's funny enough to watch a few episodes. After that the formula wears a bit thin but e it another try or two).

Mom: "Jimmy! Go over there and play with the tadpoles in the pond."

Jimmy: "Oh jeeze, the van's broken again and Dad's gonna spend the day working on the Vanagon Syndrome."

Mom: "I'm so done with this antique. I dressed for a day at the mall but I'm here in the woods with a headache the size of 10 broken down Vanagons."

It's a start, ready for hours of workshopping.

I especially like the flashlight recommendation, "to help you see into the engine."

One of my favorite YouTube series is a couple building a wood sailing boat from scratch. A friend of theirs came to help with wiring and you can see his Vanagon in the background.
