I am getting ready to buy some crank seals and pushrod tube seals for my 73 1.7. Any advice on the best brand and the best place to buy them online?
Thanks! |

Regarding the transmission side crank seal: This is only my personal experience, but I went through 3 of the red Reinz seals, each lasting only several hundred miles before they would leak. I have no idea why - end play was good, pressed in fine, etc - they just leaked (a lot!!). I switched to the black Sabo seals and they have been completely fine - no leak issues and only changing them just because I had the engine out for another reason. I'm still running one now.
Again, just my personal experience, but Sabo is my go-to for that seal. _________________ '78 Bus 2.0FI

seals come in many forms.
Make sure you get the correct size on the pushrod tubes. Use Viton seals there. Read this on flywheel seals. https://www.gowesty.com/tech-article-details.php?id=60 _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |
