I am about to send my fuel injectors out to Mr. Injector. I have an intermittent one so I want to get them cleaned. I emailed Bill at Mr. Injector about my situation and he replied right away and told me to send a couple extras just in case.
My question to you guys: I have an old 2.1 in the garage that I can steel a couple injectors off of. My engine is a 1.9. Are these injectors interchangeable? _________________ Kevin

My injectors are cooled by the gasoline going through them. _________________ '86 Syncro Westy SVX |

The water cooled injectors are the same. The Air Cooled ones are Different.

Since the question was posted here and I wondered myself before sending my injectors off to have them cleaned by Mr. Injector, I wanted to comment about engine performance observations post cleaning.
I have taken two short trips (<200mi) and a long trip (1,400mi) since getting my injectors cleaned. Mine were not terribly dirty: out of 50, flow was 48, 47, 49, and 50. The most significant difference I have found is that the van can now cruise at a higher highway speed. The sound of the engine used to limit me to about 65-67mph. Now I hear the same effort at 70-75mph. My RPMs at that speed are 3400-3600.
There ya go...

Hmm,
Having my injectors serviced by Mr. Injector appears to have fixed a hot start problem I was having. _________________ 1984 Vanagon GL

Reporting another great Mr. Injector experience. Website says 3-4 days turnaround right now. I shipped on Tuesday 7/24 from NC to ID. Received my refreshed injectors back Monday 7/30- one day turn around based on shipping tracking.
Under promise and over deliver- always a good way to do business.
And, although my baseline wasn't that bad (3 "good" at 48-49 flow rate, 1 "fair" at 45), I swear the van's running at least .5% better with full flow rates across the board now.
All for 77 dollars, shipping included. _________________ 1991 Vanagon GL 2.1 AT Westfauxlia. "Frankie" Totaled https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=764510&highlight=carnage

I want to send my injectors out for rebuild, but I'm wondering if I should pick up some more injectors to send along in case there are any bad ones out of my originals. My van runs fine, so how would I know if I have a bad one?
I just don't want to be without the van for weeks because I had a bad injector, and had to find another used one to send out after the fact.
Thoughts? |

If your bus runs fine then it is a low chance that one injector is so bad they cannot fix it. I'd take that chance. YMMV. _________________ Dave O

I had similar thinking. Just wanted to confirm, thanks! |
