I was on vacation last Friday so I didn't drive mine to work. However I was 300 miles from home, at the beach and I drove my Bus so I guess that should count for something. _________________ All he needed was a wheel in his hand and four on the road.

We have to make a day for this? Everyday I decide whether to drive my 1970 Double Cab or my 1979 VW Bus which are both my daily drivers and I have a 1969 I'm restoring. I wouldn't have it any other way, just because their old and awesome doesn't mean we shouldn't drive them. Mine has been more reliable, cheap to fix, no car payment and no matter what breaks I'll get it to my destination. New cars get towed, I get there!!! |

New cars get towed. Old bugs can be pushed. I love the fact that when I need to move mine in the garage, I just pop it into neutral and just push it out of the way. _________________ "I don't fix 'em to look at 'em, I fix them to drive."

I don't know what it easy but VWS are soooo easy to push if you have to. They roll so smoothly! |

I've pushed a 79 vert and a 62 sedan and I can tell you from experience the 79 vert is a lot harder to push! _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

Well, after a 7-year hiatus, here is post in this thread. June 22 is next Monday.
Working from home now, I won't be "driving" but I'll wear a VW themed shirt for my walk up the stairs.
But for those who drive and park, please post up your photos next week! |

I always did this, but am retired now.
Maybe I'll drive the 1970 to senior softball on the 22nd. I'm planning on driving it to tomorrow's game. I've only owned the 1970 for 48 years.

I drive mine most every day since my daily gave up months ago. Sometimes I take my daughter's BMW.
The bug is more reliable. |

Work? What is this?
12 years since I retired. Yes I occasionally drive the bus, but I may be closer and closer to selling it. I just do not have the energy to dive in to problems anymore. Yes, I can hire help--Robbie from AirSchooled was out a month ago to take care of some things - but the desire to do so is waning.
Enjoy your air-cooled VWs, they deserve to be driven! _________________ Larry in OB

Jeeze, that’s more depressing than someone who doesn’t drive their VW for fear of it getting damaged.
I put 120 miles on mine daily. Why? Mostly because I can. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Working remotely, my commute is a 5 second walk from the house to the shed. This am I drove the bus around the block after leaving the house before I went to work. First time I've ever driven a vw to work. _________________ my59: Well son, my grandfather died before I got to drive it, so does that answer your question?

I try to use mine as much as as I can, but not today. Severe thunderstorms, lightning and flash flooding today, plus I'm a dirty old hippie retired from any semblance of a real job. _________________ Brian
