Does anyone know where you can get the fill valve?
Eurocampers has the service valve, but no one seems to have the correct fill valve. I could buy a whole new tank from GoWesty, which would be great, but my tank is beautiful other than the leaky fill valve.
There's a valve that's CLOSE:

The manchester V13414, but it's intended for 10 or larger horzontal tanks. This one is 8", and apparently the angle isn't correct because the float has a different angle on it.
I'm likely going to replace the valve with a non-opd valve, but it would be nice to have the correct valve in there.
Another idea is to buy the V13414 and mix and match some parts from my old valve. Anyone ever done that? |

Update:
You can mix and match parts. Re-use the old float on the new valve. The resulting valve is a bit longer than the original, but it's short enough to fit without the float hitting the inside of the tank. The pin that holds the float looks like it's staked in, but it is not, it drives straight out with a small punch.
Mark everything carefully and take pics before disassembly, it's easy to get confused, and the operation of the valve isn't that intuitive for figuring it out later.
It's also important to remember that the valve must be installed with the tank off the car and the threaded hole facing up, otherwise the float will get hung up on the inside of the tank and probably break. Also, you've got to wind up in the right orientation so that that the valve works. There's an "up" arrow on the valve. |
