6 ago i got this '84 Mex Beetle from my dad as project car.
After we took it home, i make some plans.
Just because the condition is really bad, i will restorate it body-off and convert it to pre <- '67.
This is how we took it home.
Finally! Its in the garage, time for some disassemble and get it body-off!
[/url]
After that it's time to work on that awfull bodywork.
The front-end was in really bad condition!
After that fitted the <- '67 rear end with hood!
The lower part of the inner left front fender is really crunchy!
Even the doors are rusty as shit, also fill that mirror hole.
To fill some time at my work i took the engine with me.
Only update will be full oil flow and 1200 -> 1400CC piston set!
Still working on the engine in some lost hours at my work.
Even working on the suspension.
The idea is 4'' narrowed front beam, custom airride setup front and rear.
Customizing the early type shock relocators, to fit them the late type.
Finally! The shocks, DIY adjustable rear plates and tank came in.
Time for some fitting!
Customized the Limebug skidplate with some titanium bolts.
And last week, i got the <- '67 front fenders as birthday present of my best friend.
Also deleted the fuel filler cap.
Hope to post some updates very soon!

Some small updates.
Its time to fix that random rust holes everywhere.
Time for some metalworking.
This parts are the corners under the fuel tank.
Just drill that spotwelds out and cut it straight off.
After that made a custom piece out of a sheet of bare metal.

Long time ago!
Welded new part in the right side front fender.
Love to see the (really slow) progress.
Also picked up the wheels yesterday, some Gotti J55C!
8J fronts, 9J rears.
Only struggling what tyre sizes i need to run, anybody have some ideas?
This is an 205/55/R16 tyre fitted on the 9J wheel.
Also the full custom rear airride is coming together!
Hopefully have some good updates very soon!
Have some good days & stay safe! |

Top plates are now bended en ready to fit for welding.
After that its time to finish all the welds.

Next step are the new floorpanels, these are so bad.

So, new update!
Both old floor panels are out.
As you can see, the chassishead is terribly rusted.
Ordered an new chassishead include napoleons hat, which i can pickup this saturday.
After grinding all that spotwelds down it was time to fit both new floor panels.
and i can say im quite happy with it!
I've mounted the floor panels with some screws so i can adjust it when i fit the chassishead. |

the whole "lowering and air ride" is not my cup of tea, but you are surely doing an excellent job bringing back the car from its crusty state. Cheers! _________________ cars:

So..
Some parts came in this week.
First of all, happy with the disc brake conversion set.
Also new drum brakes, both (front and rear) in 5x112 to fit the Gotti J55A wheels.
And, last but not least: the new chassishead is in!
Will be a hell to fit, has anybody done it?

So, working on the chassis head.
And what a hard job it is.
Im not 100% happy with it, need some improvement at some places.
First of all i bented a steel plate so it will fit the inside of the tunnel.
After that i could slide on the chassis head and it will even ''lean'' on it and will divide the forces.
After the chassishead was fitted with some spot welds, it was time to fit the floorplates with it as well.
So the floorplates are now screwed on with some parkers before i will full weld it.
Sorry about that big mess, need to clean up the garage! |

Long time no update.
The rear setup end plates are cutted and welded on.
Slowly coming together.
Now its time to prepare the floor for its paint.
Still that goddamn mess in the garage.

Just got caught up on this build and I love it! That is a strong air ride set up. Lots of big metal work on this car. It's going to be a show winner. |
Thanks for your words man, really try my best!
Bought myself a powdercoat machine.
Did some practice, and its my best purchase ever!
First try on the ignition coil bracket.
Tried it on a wheel center, but thats much more difficult.
Need a lot more practice to do it a lot better.
