I love pictures of captured Kubelwagens.
One thing we see that looks like a chronic problem was leaky rear axle seals. We see it a lot.
(Come to think of it, we still do.)

I love the captured VW photos too--I'm hoping that someone will stumble onto one of the Kubel my dad drove in North Africa. Sadly he never took a picture of his.......

Well done! I knew you were on the BZ case. As I thought, the BZ registration with preceding numbers were on privately owned vehicles.
BZ mit vorangestellter zahl - Wagen in Privatbesitz means
BZ with preceding number - Car in private ownership
BZ mit nachfolgenden Buchstaben und drei voran gestellen Ziffern: Fahrzeuge von organisationen die von der Hohen Kommision oder den Britischen streitkraften betreut werden.
BZ with the following letters and three preceding digits: vehicles of organisations supervised by the High Commission or the British forces. |
