Just picked up a really nice 83 diesel Vanagon. I was given three keys-- ignition, diesel cap and the third is a mystery. None of the 3 locks or unlocks they doors or trunk and the only other lock is by the water/ electric hookups. None of the keys is even small enough to fit into this small area. Plus, IDK what this lock is for. I saw on youtube it could be gas and it could be water. Any clues on this third key and this mystery lock?

Thanks!

Judging by the pictures of the keys (Sarcasm) Wink maybe it’s the glove box key. From the 83 owners manual.

do you have a good lock locksmith?

i would just take the door handles and trunk lock off, and take them with your ignition key and get the locks matched.

i had to do that with our van right after purchase - as it had 3 different keys which was annoying - and some $$ later, i have less keys and all the locks work well.

Welcome to the Samba. Posting pictures is a challenge for many new members. You are not alone. This should help you. Enjoy the van.
