The knock off hubcaps originally shown in this thread were one variation manufactured by Bullock Accessories, International. My father, Warren M. Bodie formed a small company with a friend to manufacture simulated knock off hubcaps for Porsche, VW, Corvair, Mercedes, etc. At the time, we lived at 2257 Fairhill Lane, San Jose, 25, Calif. I remember his partner's address as 6510 Quakertown Ave, Woodland Hills, CA., which I believe was the mailing address used in the advertisements that were posted in automotive magazines.
I was only in elementary school at the time, about 8-10 years old. I used to have several samples of those knock off hubcaps hanging on my bedroom wall. |

To top that 1st post you should follow it up with scan of original literature! Do you have any those artifacts in your family collection?

I am not certain of the manufacturer of the versions on my car. I am told that they are Empi. They came off of a special empi accessorized original Ghia that Lenny Copp had for sale 15 years ago. It had lots of factory accessories and Empi accessories all documented on the original bill of sale. Lenny's buyer did not want the Lemmerz chrome rims... the narrow white wall michelins... or these knock offs. So I bought these parts.
I don't have a close up shot of my wheels and hubcaps... but here is a fun shot of the car to compare the hubcaps. The knockoff hubcaps on my car consist of 7 parts on each wheel... a complicated affair.
-the spinner
-the mount which attaches to three of the lug nuts
-the 3 special washers which go between the mount and the lugnuts
-the outer chrome ring
-the inner chrome ring

These knock-off style hubcaps were actually produced by my father, Warren M. Bodie in partnership with a friend, Carl Pfeiffer, of Reseda, CA. (at the start, my father lived in nearby Woodland Hills, CA, but in 1959 we moved to San Jose, CA). Marketed under the banner Bullock Accessories, Internationale, they were sold in several variations to fit several sports cars, including the Porsche and Mercedes. We had a set on our 1961 Corvair Monza coupe, and I had several examples hanging on the walls of my San Jose bedroom when I was about nine-ten years old).
