I am wondering if the transmission i just pulled from my 63 is the original one for my bus? Couldn't find any info on bus transmission codes elsewhere.

Looks like MAR or APR of 1963, according to "Progressive Refinements" you can access here:

So if I’m not mistaken and I’m reading this site right, it would then say that my H422608 trans is from June of 1952?

Tunnel case which was first introduced with the MAY58 (correction MAY59) bus. Once tested in the type 2 line it became standard for the type 1 and 3 models of VWs from AUG1960 for the 1961 model year. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available!

Is this what you’re asking for?
Any idea what year this may be - understanding that it’s likely been rebuilt?
Code starts with H422…

Should be a bushing inside the nose cone tip. Might upgrade to the later bushing with seal. Hockey stick you have is DPO modified, so you will need a new one.

Darn it! I noticed that but figured I might be able to get away with it like that temporarily just to see if this transmission is usable or not…
I mean, it doesn’t make heaps of sense to install it just to pull it a few weeks later, but given its mystery status I was thinking about doing just that. _________________ "You realists can stay the hell out of our office." - D. Dudas |

The first one seems to have been scratched. Here’s what I could get.
