Does anyone know if this notched piece comes out and what is the easiest way to remove this as it is leaking oil you can see in my picture there’s a couple little holes were it drips.

So what’s the easiest tool to use to remove it I don’t have no fancy tools maybe a piece of iron the same width or something? _________________ Hella ya! |

Two choices but I like the internal pipe wrench.

It’s also easier and cheaper than trying to source a weird VW tool. |

Should be able to make something out of flat bar if I knew the dimensions of the notches, on that tool. _________________ Hella ya! |

Going the other way here’s that weird tool, it’s old but I never went back to using it after I discovered the pipe wrench

So what’s the width of the notches on that tool? _________________ Hella ya! |

Thank you for posting this. I have been trying to get the oil fill nut off for years with the slotted device but no luck. After seeing your post I bought an internal pipe wrench and removed the nut. It was still difficult to get it started but it came off. No gasket at all under it. Plus the filler was loose. No wonder it leaked. Thanks again. _________________ Dave

Which size internal pipe wrench (1/2", 3/4", 1"?) fits the nut? _________________ AshMan40

It also helps to warm the generator stand with a propane torch a little. _________________ 73 Type 181

Thanks for confirming.
I just realized that if I zoom in on the pic of the internal wrench box above it says on the right end … 3/4” to 1” _________________ AshMan40
