I wonder if that number of contacts is correct, you do know admins can see all your email traffic. _________________ Grapes of Wrath $200 Engine Rebuild

@AlteWagen Yes the number of contacts is correct, the vast majority came as text messages probably due to the last sentence in the ad that said “text for quickest response”.... |

Did you put the price in the ad because you were tired of responding to texts? _________________ .

I went ahead and posted the price in the ad because I felt the strategy of putting “ask “had served it’s purpose and I have several good conversations going with Potential Buyer’s now. |

Since you are calling him out
His earlier report of how many emails he got above was accurate.
Obviously I don't know the # of text messages but I admit that total number surprised me. _________________ How to Post Photos

@EverettB Thanks for verifying....I don’t have any reason to lie about the contacts on the bus...it’s a badass truck and I really wish I didn’t have to sell it but I’m sure if I would have posted the price originally I wouldn’t have received near as many responses.... |

Bam!! I guess the lesson here is, don’t question someone’s veracity without having the facts.
It’s a super nice, stock, dry SC wearing a lot of its OG paint and in a desirable color. Of course it’s generating plenty of interest. |

To me it just seemed like an exaggerated number for a single cab even in that condition. I knew if I posted that EB would look it up and verify the claim.

so just the 25 mentioned?
dmonger wrote: |
for instance this ad has already generated at least 25 emails ... |
This seems more like a reasonable number of inquiry.
As the seller mentioned he is the type that likes to talk about his stuff even if its not selling to that person. As much as I like VWs and to talk about them Ill save that for shows and meets and not waste my time on dreamers and broke dicks who are tying to 'make friends' and get a deal on whatever Im selling.
Plenty of folks dont believe what Ive been offered for my POS, if it didnt happen again and again I wouldt believe it myself. Too many people with more money than common sense these days. I often wonder if they can really appreciate what they get or just a passing fancy. _________________ Grapes of Wrath $200 Engine Rebuild

@AS350driver Thanks for the support and kind words about my SC I really appreciate it!
@AlteWagen I think that horse you’re beating is just about dead lol....as stated earlier somewhere around 25 emails or so and close to 100 text messages...for the record I don’t just talk about “my” stuff I had lots of conversations about trade offers and other peoples VW’s....I think most of us like to talk VW since we are on a VW website.... |

To be clearer about what I posted above, his additional 100+ texts surprised me, not the 25ish emails though the site.
His phone was blowing up, LOL

Not for an ad with no price listed, those ads always get tons of emails, mostly people asking the price.
I did a quick search on ads with "Offer" in the price and most of them have a similar or greater number of ad contacts, as long as they were a decent looking Bus.
Even normal car ads get a lot of "trade" emails, mostly from the same few people who email tons of people about their boat or motorcycle or whatever that is a super long shot trade IMHO.
There are also a couple people on there that lowball almost everyone, often with lies about how much cash they have (it changes for each ad) or "It will be a keeper for me" or whatever comment they think will get them a deal.
So there's 3-6 automatic emails just from the typical traders and lowballers _________________ How to Post Photos

There is a simple workaround for getting those emails that are simply asking the price. Just put the price in the damn ad. It really cuts down on the time wasting of people hoping for a deal and finding out that the bus is indeed priced at or above market price. Usually well above market price.
I wish that the ads without prices cost money to place, but that would probably be an huge headache of people trying to get around it.

I had a guy buy a bus off of me a few years back, and he said that his offer was all his money, with a good story, etc. It was close enough to my price that I went for it. Then he tried to buy parts off me that so that I could throw them in the bus before it was shipped. I told him that I though that was all his money, and if I had those parts, I would have included them in the bus to begin with. I was actually amused, as I didn't believe him to begin with when he said it was all his money. _________________ .

I guess denmark is more lax on VIN inspection? |
Seems like the VIN swap would create major problems with importing to another country. |

Depends.
In the UK it would probably be allowed in, but would (should) be assigned a 'Q' registration plate indicating that the year of manufacture could not be determined.
But a 'Q' registration severely damages the value, so an unscrupulous owner would probably try to register it on the year of the VIN _________________ Andy

However you look at it, €40k for a Brazilian based project bus doesn't seem like the best value. Cash spend on parts at retail price does not equal value added... |
