I found this accessory shifter in a March 54 beetle I recently picked up that sat in a southwestern field for over 30 years. I don't see any markings on it. Looks like the shaft was chrome at one point, but has worn & flaked away.
Anyone know anything about it?

Thank you, wow, that was an unexpected score. I'd heard of them, but had never seen one before. I'll carefully disassemble, re-chrome, and use. _________________ 1950 Pearl Grey Hoffman Standard Split Window

Cool find
To anyone: Is the phillips head securing screw normal? |
No, It takes a pin tapped in after the wedge ring is tapped down.
I have 2 Dehne folding shifters one NOS and one thats used, on the on the upper part of the of the shifter it says "GERMANY" stamped.
Look at the one on the left that's the NOS one see the pin sticking out?

So if I understand, the stock shifter had to be cut down, the Dehne shifter was slid over the stub and locked into place using that pin? _________________ 1950 Pearl Grey Hoffman Standard Split Window
