Well I guess you are never really finished...but after a year and a half of my time (and way too much money), my 73 Thing is "done". Finished in VW Double Yellow, then a pearl coat on top before the final clear. Hope you enjoy these pics.

Awesome, just curious where you got the roll bar, I'm thinking about adding one on my Thing. Cliff W. in western Pa.

Beautiful! Well done, without being "overdone". Congratulations.

Hi, Cliff. I would recommend it for added rigidity. Not sure how effective it would be in an actual roll over.

The roll bar was in the car when I bought it, I had it blasted and powder coated as part of the restoration. I don't seem to have a picture of the bar assembled before installation, but here is a pic right after I installed it. I am pretty sure it is a Thing Shop roll bar, but I did not see any identifiers on it so maybe other can chime in. It attaches to the car in 7 places: Center of the cargo section as seen in picture (4 bolts), both side of cargo section above the rear wheel wells (4 bolts each side), through the floor pans just in front of the front seat belt bolts (4 bolts each side) and the the top of the post in between the doors (provides a lot of rigidity to the door post, 2 bolts each side)

Hope that helps.
