Lots of details done inside and out. Pretty happy so far!
Getting closer, nailing down some small electrical items, brakes, then should be able to take it down the road!

still trying to figure out some starter issues- so it all comes out again, getting anxious to take it on a long spin:

But...
Another bus fell into my lap, so I bought it (bad timing, but couldn't turn it away...) and came with these, NOS:
I doubt I'll use them on this bus though, but maybe?

Finally,
Closed up for the night, thought it was a good shot-

So...
It's been a while since I've updated, and quite a bit has been done since then and I've started logging some miles!
We changed out the complete front end and added 4 wheel disc from Rus at Oldspeed, drop plates in the rear, new 1600 DP, and 12 volt.
I kept the complete OG front end, brakes, RGB's, trans, etc and put it in the corner so it could go back to stock if I wanted.

Here we go!

Looks good!

I would like to hear what you are running for tranny, spindles, brakes, etc. How does it ride?

I took the stock front and rear end, brakes, wheels, etc off completely and put them in storage because they are all original to the bus. I didn’t want to modify the existing equipment. With that, the beam is all new CB, dropped spindles, 3” narrowed with Old Speed front and rear cross drilled discs, MC, etc. The rear is T1 trans w/ Old Speed drop plates. All bolt on stuff.

The next move is to add the engine tin that I just painted, vintage speed stainless exhaust and put on the dual single 34’s for a little more power and clean it up. It’s a new 1600 DP.

Thanks!

Big thanks to Drew Ogden for letting go of one of his plate frames for my bus. Ray Ely in Oakland is the dealer that mine was sold, and my frame was a little tired-
broken in two parts, missing tabs, etc.
Working out the details now!

Thanks, it's a great time of year for cruising!

Amazingly, as I'm sure many of you do to, I still have a list a miles long on things to improve/finish/get working right-plenty to keep me busy!

Little update-
Now that it’s together and logging miles, it’s down to the long list of refinements!
Finally got it aligned and steering wheel straight, you can see the before and after:

Next, I hand made some caps for my wheels, thought they looked incomplete-

Next the dual carbs, tin and stainless exhaust- give a little more hill climbing power-

Lastly, a bunch of tuning and figuring out- lights, polishing, finding better pieces- I’ve owned a ton of vws over the years and this one is right up there, one of my favorites!
