From the technical data sheet
CLEANING OF PAINT EQUIPMENT
Use Axalta® 105™ Gun Cleaner, Axalta® 107™ Low VOC Gun & Equipment Cleaning Solvent, or any other equipment cleaner as permitted by local regulations. _________________ 1968 Beetle (storage)

Lacquer thinner, reducer, or a paint gun cleaner should work. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

Axalta® 107™ Gun Cleaner, Axalta from their MSDS is ~90% acetone!
Axalta® 105™ Gun Cleaner, Axalta from their MSDS is ~50-75% methanol with some acetone, toluene and benzene. Methanol is nasty stuff, so you are better looking at the first one.
Straight acetone should get you close.
Hopefully you haven't already sprayed it and are waiting on these thinning instructions. _________________ 1968 1500 RHD Lotus White Beetle since birth. In the hospital for major surgery

x2 not to be confused with paint thinner. You can use reducer but that is rather expensive. Acetone is too volatile. IMO _________________ 71 vert build. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=572951&highlight=dead |

I use lacquer thinner or acetone. Usually acetone because it's cheaper.
A lot of times I also have a can of pressurized carb or brake cleaner spray to give parts a final "rinse off" after they have been brushed clean. _________________ 1967 Bug ( the daily rod )

I see there is Virgin Lacquer thinner at the auto paint shops, and lacquer thinner at Home Depot.
Any difference?

Learn to look up the MSDS for each product.
By law they are required to provide the details of all hazardous ingredients. Sometimes proprietary information can be withheld but generally they are there.
The MSDS is name specific so you have to use that. I don't know the exact name you have but one I Googled
https://msdsdigital.com/100-virgin-lacquer-thinner-msds
Shows in Section 3
39-42% Methanol
31-33% Toluene
13-16% Acetone
9-11% Solvent 210
The reference to CAS (Chemical Abstract Service) further gives a number you can look up which gives some chemical formulae but more importantly what the common name for the item is.
For example Solvent 210 68410-97-9 is Distillates (petroleum), light distillate hydrotreating process, low-boiling
Google that and ask for synonyms and you will usually find out some common products it is used in.
Sounds complicated but in 5 minutes of research you can find out a lot of information.
I assessed thousands of MSDS as part of my job for many years and know that a lot of high priced products are just common chemicals. It is also important that you know what the hell you are breathing and absorbing through your skin. _________________ 1968 1500 RHD Lotus White Beetle since birth. In the hospital for major surgery

Pretty sure the virgin lacquer thinner is little higher quality or better refined and so it preferable for thinning paint. I haven't been able to get the good stuff for many years here. The laquer thinner in Cali is mostly acetone now... For cleaning a gun and supplies just get the cheaper one. It will work well. _________________ 1967 Bug ( the daily rod )

I also use a lacquer thinner. Got it from Home Depot. |
