Once problems get complex, we hit the societal problem that there will always be a relative few who grasp the scope of the problem and the solutions. There are always more dumbasses than problem solvers. Fitting that into the framework into democracy is the challenge of our century _________________ .ssS! |

That thing is awesome. The service interval at 40,000 hours calls for piston pin replacement.
You can only run it non-stop for 4 1/2 years and then you have to replace the piston pins? Boy, they sure built garbage back in the day
So was someone turning off and on the individual injectors? That's what I'm assuming.
Neat piece of functional history. |

agreed.
i read somewhere that PG&E is taking heat for a possible tree branch causing a fire.
i'm not even going to pretend to know what goes on in CA except from what i'm told by people that live there. from what i understand they don't allow controlled burns and are very strict about maintenance equipment keeping stuff cut back.

The crux of the problem is it easy to call that which you do not understand an “ agenda” rather than seek understanding, which separates the groups. _________________ .ssS! |

In the ‘60s & ‘70s, these same climatologists were predicting a global cooling & were trying to devise ways of melting the ice caps. We have gone from being doomed by global cooling, to being doomed by global warming. And since none of their predictions have come true, it’s now called climate change. Do you know what the cause for global cooling was? The internal combustion engine.

Just one of California’s wild fires emits more pollutants than all of the cars in the US & those wild fires burned for decades or more at a time before human intervention. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

when i was a kid the ozone layer was going to kill us. still here....
i do believe there has to be common sense in all of this. it looks like PG&E finally got somewhere in trying to bury the powerlines.
this is the kind of common sense stuff we need. when the sky has been falling for 50+ years and hasn't fallen i'd lump that into an agenda.
until these assholes practice what they preach....i'm not buying into it. lead by example.... not the 'none for thee all for me' bullshit that just keeps going on and on and on. _________________

The problem is that we are actually seeing the modeling predictions for warming- aka 'climate change'- come true. The only issue with the models is that they were way off in predicting how fast. Seems there's an extremely good chance that the hell they are predicting for 2070 to 2100 could be here this decade.
Sure, there were a lot of wrong predictions in the 60s, 70s, and 80s that seem silly to us now, but for sixty years we have known that something was going wrong with our climate. The reason the modeling and predictions are more accurate now than they were then is that we have learned a lot and also made advancements if forecasting, etc. after some horrific losses of life from weather events in the '60s and '70s.
Incredibly enough, the Nixon Administration was really on top of climate change. It was one of Nixon's intense interests. Scientists working with the administration then basically concluded (in the early 1970s) that we had about 50 years till the shit hit the fan if things didn't change. Guess what? Here we are.
Carter also took it very seriously. The contributions of Nixon and Carter started a worldwide movement that nearly stopped climate change in the 80s. Nearly.

Polarization of Society. This is what makes Us ,as human animals, lean toward common thought and practice. It has a lot of influence by and in regional geography ( ex: the southern US Bible belt, and whatever is the "common thread" for any particular area (or sometimes a whole country (ex: Afghanistan) carries the actions of the people who most often are just joining the common flow, going right along, not acting logically or in their best interests, like a child who believes whatever Mom and Pop say is right.
We are going toquart go on doing the wrong things right up to Game Over.
So what's the point ?? Not much except that despite our increasing awareness, and actually admitting that we as humans are our own worst enemies-----every single "great society" that has gone before us met it's end , primarily by it's own devices , surely we will too. I had to say that. It may be deep and dark but it is reality....but Man will survive 'cause I'm saving up for a tesla to help fund colonization on Mars.Study some George Carlin, he told us all years ago!

Seems that 12 billion gallons of water has been stolen from various CA. waterworks, to be used on illegal grow operations.

here is the problem....
aircooled.net, bus depot, CIP 1 etc...all sell headers right?
if you put that on a car that falls into the clean air act regulation era they have sold a part that tampers with emissions.
amazon also sells "solvent traps" which are pretty much illegal:
https://www.thetrace.org/2017/05/solvent-trap-atf-silencer-suppressor/
just because amazon sells it doesn't mean it's a free pass
if those small places get fined....they will be out of business. if the EPA wants to dig deep they will hunt down who bought what. it's happening with some of the "tuner" crowd now.
the reality is many of us use these as a pleasure vehicle and i'd bet there is only a small handful that daily drive these. all i want to see is some common sense in this whole mess.
i don't think it would make a lot of sense to go after those of us who live in states where these are fair weather cars but it opens the door to make them drop registrations as a whole. _________________

Them 'wokies' will force wind and solar and electric cars shortly and we will all freeze our butts off in winter.
Burning fossil fuels have less emissions now than before. HOw tight is too tight? We can stop using chemicals to produce food -sure. So long as we are willing to pay higher for food as there won't be as much to buy.
There are more pressing things to worry about than cow-farts. We shut down oil pipelines so we can truck that very same oil on the highways where it can spill onto rivers when the trailer crashes. Very smart thinking there -from the people who want to 'save the environment'.
Our rights are being stripped away every little bit and people are not even watching. Have you seen gas prices lately? WE are back to near $5/ gal.
wait until you have to get emissions for the farm tractors. or get a permit for your cattle when you have to revert to using them to pull plows.
We cannot build larger jails coz they have to cut forests down to make room, so just release criminals is the answer. What can go wrong?
I am waiting on the timed when we will have a day for a 'purge' --- just like the movie. Lots of ammo is where I will put my money - that is a safe bet. |

I've had Amazon cancel two orders for oil that I placed. I just got a notification that they cannot ship that product to California. So they won't ship ANYTHING.
But I did find another brand of break-in oil that they did ship.. so I'm not sure how they differentiate. |
