didnt even think about how correct they got it. just noticed it was a lowlight, with a covered gas cap, and thought "early"
so in its current config, is it a 72 only? that would be hilarious.
edit 74. so they got it very wrong.

You beat me to it! My first thought was “oooh, have to get my order in”, followed by “I hope I can turn the top around.”

Also, I hope it’s the same scale as the earlier one, looks like it is.

Getting the sliding door to work was a neat trick.

Somehow the headlights are off, since they aim outwards. But I expect that with some futzing it could be corrected.

Overall, an admirable effort, though!

Robbie, do you know this guy? Is he the one you mentioned earlier?

I still like the pickup better for some reason... can't put my finger on it...

I've already started making some better modifications, how does it look so far?

This is a 3D render as I don't have the actual set yet since it releases on August 1st.

I ordered it on the 1st, but it still says "In warehouse" so who knows when it will show up.

Anyone else order it?

I ordered it (along with some other Lego stuff) right as it dropped, and it has not shipped yet either. Lego had a large wave of high demand stuff drop all at the same time as the bus and I assume their warehouse employees are swamped right now, haha. I can't imagine it taking more than 1 or 2 days from now to ship, otherwise there may be a problem.

I'll be building my own bus in this scale. I think it will display well next to the official set and probably become my favorite display pieces in my house!

I also ordered mine as soon as it was available to order it I got an email saying that the order has now reach our warehouse team. I noticed alot of other products were going to be released at the same time so I imagine lego is being overrun with orders. I will say though I cannot wait for it to arrive in the mean time I ordered the bug kit on ebay to pacify the mrs and my self Very Happy

Fedex just dropped mine off.

The instruction book is half the thickness of a Bentley!

Finished it. Lots of neat little details. Sliding door with a button underneath that pops it open, steerable wheels, cabinets with food in them, sink, stove, pop-top, engine hatch, rear hatch, rear seat folds down into bed, even has a Westy table that folds out of the way. The spare wheel on the front spins when you turn the steering wheel which is a little odd. Very cool set.

It's a play feature so you can operate the steering via the spare tire instead of reaching into the cab, but I don't know how many samba users are "playing" with the set rather than displaying it, haha.

I'm jealous that yours showed up so much sooner than mine! Fedex says it'll be here on the 13th, so fingers crossed it doesn't get delayed any more than it needs to! Now if you're anything like me the next problem is finding a spot to put it. Shocked

So..... ITS HERE!!! Me and the mrs are rather excited!! However i'm not sure if she's ready for this mammoth of a build LMAO!!

I got pics next to the bug kit as a size comparison for those that have the bug kit! and holy crap almost twice as many pieces! I didn't even pay that any attention when I ordered it.

This is a common feature of LEGO vehicle models, being able to steer them from outside the model, even cooler that they employed the front mounted spare.

Man, mine was supposed to get here today. A few days ago I got an update saying it's delayed and now I won't have it until Monday. This wait is killing me. Crying or Very sad
I am also considering buying the beetle as well.
