Hello! Here's my 1966 Stallion Roadster SR66-008 factory built in Long Beach by the Flaming Mfg Co.

I recently stumbled upon an interesting part of SoCal automotive history when I acquired Stallion #8 from the nephew of Mr Walter Flaming. Brochures and factory photos were also a part of the garage sale. Mr Flaming (the nephew) served as shop foreman of Flaming Mfg Co and helped build the run of 10 Stallions in 1966 including #8 that Walter Flaming kept for his off-road adventures around Salton Sea.

All but one were painted the poppy red color shown here.

If anyone also owns a Stallion or has any more knowledge to share about Flaming Mfg Co and the '66 Stallion don't hesitate to reach out!

Hi, All Stallion Roadsters were street legal vehicles from day one. Walter Flaming knew his last name wouldn't be a great seller. Mustang was already taken. And so was born the Stallion Roadster, an open top vehicle with two doors, two seats, made for sport - a sportsman's pleasure.

Stallion Roadster sold via Hemmings Auctions and now resides in MA on the East Coast.

So the question is, is the Stallion Roadster a knockoff of the EMPI Sportster, or is the Sportster a copy of the Stallion?

The EMPI car would appear to have come first ...

The 10 Stallion Roadsters were each built by a legit auto manufacturer. Each was assigned a VIN and titled with that VIN as a street legal vehicle.
