Beginner here. Just recently received this 71 super beetle. Going to try and save her. I am trying to figure out what is missing in this hole. It’s located right next to the brake reservoir. ( under it ). Here is a picture. Thanks for the help in advance.

I don't think that hole is factory. I also have a 71 and there is no hole at all. Maybe it was for aux heater or maybe car had a/c.
And get your fuel tank bolted down. _________________ Come on, It's not rocket science. KISS |

Thanks. The tank is empty and needs to be replaced. But the new one will definitely be bolted down. This is not road ready yet. But I have looked everywhere and can’t find that hole. One more patch panel to make. No big deal. |

Any other holes further forward on the inner side of the LH fender well?, or in the RH air plenum near the glove box?, looks a bit like the hole for a later gas heater.
