Ya gotta wonder if this morning in the afterglow of the euphoria of a winning B.A.T. bid that high bidder is looking at his bank account and the critiques in this discussion thread with his (or her) head in their hands and is quietly moaning over and over "Oh no! What did I do?"

Bill Bowman

p.s. it had to be the Porsche stickers...

You know the first place that is going is a Porsche show where he’ll park it next to his flared out and whale tailed 911 Carerra.

More like: ...park it next to his flared out and whale tailed fiberglass Speedster replica with 2275cc engine and 4 bolt wheels.

Agreed. Pressed bumper, walkthrough, logo’d Kombi is about as cool as you can get.

I'm very curious what this thing will go for on there? I would expect with good documents and who did the restoration maybe $75-$85,000 to the right buyer.

A Single Cab just went for $85k a few weeks ago.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1959-volkswagen-single-cab-transporter/

This will be higher.

And that single cab, though quite nice, was very far from a correct restoration.

I will posit that the single cab price was a high outlier in the market. But the Binz is really on uncharted ground, so it will be interesting to watch.

First - Super cool Bus.

I have to call fake logos unless they have some documentation.
Any vintage (1960s?) pics with the logos?
Happy to be proven wrong here though...

If someone here buys it, seek out some patina bumpers - My opinion is it would look better if they sort of matched the body.

Joe Caraway, here in Scottsdale used to own this truck. He had two Binz's at one time though he only had this one for a short time. When he bought it, it had some poorly done "Binz" logos on it. He had me sand the logos off and polish the truck. I also painted the bumpers, wheels and hubcaps at the same time. The work I did was in March of 2013 and I think he sold it not long after that. It's a nice truck but an older amateur paint job.

To be fair, the Binz factory paint quality might have been even less than this amateur version. They really didn't take much time to make them look nice back then.

Seller just came out and admitted the logos are fake. That’s lame that he didn’t make it clear from the get go. I’d be pissed if I were the high bidder.

I agree- but I also don't think the current high bid is going to buy that bus. It is interesting how the logos seem to draw the bidders... I think they were a big factor on the 85k single. Or maybe it was the tilt canvas ?

Looking forward to the Binz auction... cannot remember the last one Ive seen listed anywhere.

I am fairly certain the original ad text did not mention the added logos, only that they existed. Seems BaT made the change.

Agreed, I didn’t see that text when it first popped up either. Unless others missed it to, BAT added it once the seller came clean.
