Got some welding and a lot of grinding in front of me to come
It will awesome to get the floor in
Any tips I should know about before I start
Work front to the back or back to the front
Weld the floor first before the lips around the edges then uprights
Cheers

Here are some picture of how I did mine: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=...p;start=60

I didn't bother to grind the welds in the groves, because mine was getting a wooden floor.

Congrats on the progress and I'm sure it will feel good when the floors are in because they cover such a much area.

With our recent lockdown in Victoria and some cold rainy weather it was good to get back into the shed and keep progressing with the mango

Yep red primer for us in oz
That's why any new repair piece that's going to be visible gets the red oxide paint ready for some blending/patina
Cheers

Well I finally found the last piece of the og paint mango jigsaw puzzle
I managed to find a og paint front drivers door in the uk on a FB page back in dec 19
By the time I got it payed for and found someone that was happy to ship it to oz and also make me a set of tubs it was March 2020 and this thi g called covid came along and shut everything down and sent freight through the roof
At the time I thought this won’t last long it will blow over in no time, how wrong could I be
Anyway fast forward to now my door has just arrived

Anyway unfortunately what I thought was og paint wasn’t og paint
So the paint stripping begun

What I thought was og paint turned out to be another mango respray from years ago

Now I have started removing another layer expose the real og mango paint
Unfortunately this layer is paper thin and doesn't take much to rub/ burn through to the grey primer which is not a match to oz buses as they had red oxide primer
Slow and steady

very nice find with the og door. you will achieve a good patina result after peeling it.

I have peeled my whole bus from oversprayed color, and the right side passenger dooer came out to had a wheel burnout.....

Thanks for sharing.

Progressing with the bus
Loaded up the bus and headed to a mates place that works on buses for a living
He’s going tackle a tricky repair lower front inner and outer front valance while leaving the nose on and also installing a sunroof to make it into a sunroof standard
Seems a great way to fix the rust holes in the roof
