I'm looking at a '56 Single Cab soon.
The chassis and engine number both line up within the same timeframe.
The Wolfsburg birth certificate states it was made in April of 1956.
Thesamba resources list the production earlier, in February of 1956.
I understand the Hanover plant was getting going around that time.
Might that have something to do with it?

Why would the factory and thesamba production dates differ by two months?

Any ideas?

This seems strange to me but maybe it's a Wolfsburg vs. Hannover thing or maybe they made a certificate mistake.

What's the VIN #?

If you don't want to be specific, that's ok, just say 168xxx or 175xxx or whatever

173xxx is March, 1956

End of Feb is 170 083
End of March is 174 402

I'd say March is correct and they made a mistake unless there is some March discrepancy I don't know about as March is when Hannover supposedly started formal production

Maybe someone misread the 173 as 178 as the Wolfsburg cert. says April of 1956.

Thanks again.
