Been a few busy weekends here

Fuel tank removed cleaned and tested no leaks

Gave the paint a polish and clean now nice and shiney

The engine has been stripped cleaned, tin ware blasted and painted.

The engine will be back together in next week or so.

Daughter picked her own colour and mixed it up made her own colour for the tin ware which looks amazing

Hopefully have panel work started in a few weeks

Cheers

IT would be nice to see a few mid process pics of the nose repair. I have some similar repairs needed and it would be nice to see how others work.
The original motor was amazing. Sounds like you'll stick with 36hp for a while?

The 36hp is no good to us with the miles we travel and dominantly highways. It will stored and a little 1641cc will go on with a swing axle conversion

Last but not least every project should have merchandise

Issy has her own range of merchandise to sell which helps fund her project

She has launched these on her Facebook and Instagram pages

Wow we have a keen little girl home from School today and straight up to the shed. Dad lets get Deltas motor out.

So she helped my get the tools and jack out and I sat back and supervised.

Issy is 9 and has watched myself and her 11 year old brother Sammy do it plenty of times so she knew the drill

Well watch and learn people

15 minutes later we had the motor out.

First time out since going in at the factory in 1955, remember it's only 19000 miles since 1955.

Looks bloody amazing

Magic! Just the right teacher, to show her, then get out of the way!
Nice work habit, too, put the apron bolts back in their holes!
Come to the US sometime. We'll teach you about RUST!
Well done, father and daughter.

Well the kids have launched their own YouTube channel

On there they plan to do build updates on 55 and 56 SC

We had a great phone call from original owner 2 weeks ago, followed up with some pictures of the SC and stations she lived on.

The owners wife has a great memory and stories to match.

Flash back to 1955 Delta sold to a Station owner in Outback New South Wales
Mr Jim Davey he had an airfield on his station and was the local charter plane operator. The SC was used as the fuel cart carrying 44Gallon drums of fuel on her back to refuel the planes.

Davey and Sons is signwritten on the SC

In the early 1960s another Station owner and pilot bought the SC Mr Bernie Murray. He flew from the Davey station in his own plane before building his own airfield. Mr Murray was a racehorse owner as well as a Station owner, he flew to race meets and livestock auctions. The SC continued asa fuel cart.

She moved to Delta station with Bernie he got married and had 2 children a Son and Daughter, sadly at age 22 the son was killed at Delta during a flood, he was riding his motorbike checking flood waters and was hit by a Kangaroo. The Murray's moved to the neighboring Station Dunlop.

The move also included Delta the 55 SC her role changed as well, now a hay cart for the racehorses.

In 2010 Bernie was ill and was time to sell his car collection, he advertised Delta in a national car sales magazine. Delta was sold to VW collector and now friend Ric of Volks Recycle in Melbourne southern Australia.

A cool history and very detailed thanks to Bernie's wife Jill.

My daughter Issy has done well researching and finding Jill, with the only information we had was the signwritten names on the side of the SC

Well its been a long time working in background

Great news though we have running driving bus and a very happy 10 year old daughter.

Issy was surprised and presented her 1955 SC last weekend

With a huge support VW peers we managed to finish off the build without Issy knowing

Covid slowed the build , plus a few other personal issues but we kept working in background

This week has to be the highlight

Daughter has finally finished how she dreamed her SC to be

Similar to the one she has had her wall for years

Wednesday she also got another bucket list item ticked off magazine photo shoot

Hope you guys like

So nice to see a happy bus owner with their bus (SC). I like how she kept it as original as possible regarding the body. Is that body shine wax or something else?
